Getting to know BLOSSOM.
What's the story behind BLOSSOM and how did it all start?
Established in 2017, BLOSSOM was founded with a vision for specialty coffee to shine in Hong Kong — much like cherry blossoms in full bloom, which is also the inspiration behind our logo. The BLOSSOM team is also actively involved in competitions, having claimed the Champion title in Coffee in Good Spirits, as well as reaching the finalist stage in both the Brewers Cup and Barista Championship.
Can you share more about your approach to sourcing and roasting coffee?
Our roaster trained in Fukuoka, Japan, with the goal of bringing a refined Japanese roasting style to Hong Kong. Our approach to both roasting and sourcing is centered around sweetness and quality; carefully selecting the highest quality green beans from suppliers around the world to ensure we offer some of the most extraordinary coffee in Hong Kong.
What motivated BLOSSOM to explore the capsule coffee format?
As one of the fastest-paced cities in the world, Hong Kong has always been one of the largest markets for capsule coffee consumption. Whether at the office or at home, capsules have become one of the most common ways for coffee lovers to enjoy their daily cup. With that in mind, our team decided to enter the capsule market with one of the finest coffees in the world — a Colombian Geisha.
We all have our morning routines, and coffee is often a crucial part of it. What is your morning ritual like?
As a barista, I love to start my morning with an iced Americano made with vibrant, juicy single origin coffee. That love for bright, lively flavours is precisely why I chose the Colombia Monteblanco Geisha as our very first capsule.
What are you most excited about right now and for the future of BLOSSOM?
As a brand with over nine years in Hong Kong, BLOSSOM is looking ahead to developing overseas markets and events in the coming year. Specialty coffee is one of the fastest-growing industries in Asia, and it has always been one of the best ways to bring people together. Nothing is more exciting than the prospect of connecting with both old friends and new ones along the way.
